
Dr. Manju “MJ” Hurvitz
President
Dr. Manju Hurvitz is a board-certified pulmonologist, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UC San Diego and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Uniformed Services University School of Medicine. A Navy veteran, Dr. Hurvitz has experience treating children with complex respiratory disorders across the globe. Her current clinical and research interests include chronic cough, pediatric asthma, noninvasive ventilation therapy and the optimization of respiratory health in vulnerable pediatric patients.

Dr. Patrick Reeves

Patrick T. Reeves, MD, FAAP, DABOM is a board-certified Pediatric Gastroenterologist practicing in San Antonio, Texas at Brooke Army Medical Center and University Hospital. He also maintains board certifications in General Pediatrics and Obesity Medicine. His research focuses on facilitating home, chronic care management using digital communication and e-Health. Over the last ten years, Dr. Reeves has developed more than a dozen point-of-care, e-Health Solutions called Clinical Action Plans. Dr. Reeves has published more than 30 PubMed cited articles and received three grant awards in the pursuit of enhanced care models.

Dr. Renee Matos

Colonel Renée Matos, MD, MPH, MHPE, FAAP is Chair of Pediatrics at Brooke Army Medical Center. She is a pediatric intensivist, the Pediatric Critical Care Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General, Co-Chair of the DHA Critical Care and Trauma Clinical Community, and Professor of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University. She has served on multiple national committees and was a previous chair of the AAP Section on Pediatric Trainees and spent 5 years as the SAUSHEC Assistant Dean of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. Her interests include resuscitation, quality improvement, patient safety, critical care air transport, health professions education, leadership, and burnout. She has 25 peer-reviewed publications, 3 book chapters, multiple national presentations, and been the course director for 4 courses.

LTC Megan Donahue, MD, FAAP is the Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Brooke Army Medical Center, and the Army Associate Program Director of the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium Pediatrics Residency. She is board-certified in pediatric infectious diseases and general pediatrics. Her interests include quality improvement, medical education and infection prevention. She has served the AAP in multiple positions, including the training fellow liaison to the education committee of the Section on Infectious Diseases, as the clinical cases co-chair for the Section on Pediatric Trainees, and currently as the scientific awards competition co-chair for the Section on Uniformed Services. Dr. Donahue has authored 5 journal articles, 4 book chapters, and multiple AAP newsletters and healthychildren.org articles.

Dr. Brena Haughey

Brena Haughey, DO, FACC, FAAP, is an award-winning Board-Certified Pediatric Cardiologist whose expertise & passions are found in Patient Care, Quality Improvement & Patient Safety (QIPS), Outreach, & Medical Education. She is a proven leader as the Medical Director of Pediatric & Fetal Cardiac Imaging at the largest Department of Defense (DOD) Healthcare Facility, with extensive experience in curricular development & institutional leadership with previous roles including acting as the Institutional Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Chief for San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium & Associate Program Director of Quality Improvement for the Pediatric Residency Program at Brooke Army Medical Center. She has authored multiple hospital and DOD-wide protocols and has been chosen as the sole Pediatric Cardiologist for Air Force Pediatric Humanitarian Missions. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the world, hiking, going to concerts, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

Dr. Samantha Rowden

Samantha Rowden, MD, FAAP is a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics fellow and board-certified pediatrician at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. She is a former CATCH Resident Grant recipient whose project focused on exploring the pediatrician’s role in addressing racism and discrimination. Her current research/QI projects involve suicidality among military affiliated Autistic youth and firearm safety and injury prevention.
